SUPER Pĭlacommúnĭtas (2023)
In Super Pĭlacommúnĭtas, a multispecies band makes its debut, featuring animals as performers in a hyperconnected world.
The animals’ movements in Super Pĭlacommúnĭtas are based on actual K-pop performances. K-pop idols, are seen as heroes of a subculture, representing a futuristic and rebellious image that appeals to teenagers as an alternative to mainstream Western pop.
However, these idols are also carefully produced by a massive entertainment industry, trained to perform in perfect sync with each other. This dual identity—being both countercultural icons and products of a highly controlled system—mirrors the speculative idea in Super Pĭlacommúnĭtas.
